Vanessa’s Hawaii training course: North from Kona Coast resort, two miles to Magic Sands Beach. Stop for a little snorkeling, some wave riding. Enjoy the turtles, and have fun. Then, reverse course and back to the beginning.
Weather wise, it’s 80 degrees perfect weather for walking. We are heading for Maui soon, and training will of course continue there.
As soon as it stops snowing in Seattle, we will consider coming back.

Superstars of the Week
How ’bout that Larry Leach?! The guy isn’t on the team 2 months, and he’s already out there volunteering! In case you missed him, Larry was our water station volunteer last Saturday out at Green Lake. He has become a regular on the TT scene and has, I believe, made it to every practice so far this spring! For a new guy, he’s certainly having no trouble fitting in and seems to have a natural Team Transplant spirit about him! If you haven’t had a chance to meet Larry, be sure to say “hi” next time you see him…he’s hard to miss because he’s really, really tall…I’m sure you’ll agree, he’s a perfect fit for our team!
James and Ida Boecksteigel…Most of you know James and Ida. They have totally redefined what it means to be a Superstar Team Transplant volunteer. Ida manages all of our paperwork and our database. James is a stalwart at managing our home base water station at practices. Together, they keep track of all our apparel and lug it to and from practices for us. I really don’t know what we’d do without them! Unfortunately, we’ll have to see what that’s like the next few weeks as they won’t be able to make it to workouts. James, who suffered a major leg injury a year and a half ago, is having to go back unexpectedly for more surgery on Friday.

Superstar of the Week…
Let’s hear for Gary Lanis! Gary opted out of training this past Saturday to help with the water station. For those of you who know Gary, you know how much he loves his training, and even more so, how much he loves to mix it up at practices. I think we’ve all had fun watching his progress over the last…gasp! can it be that long??!…EIGHT years! He truly exudes Team Transplant team spirit and is an amazing example of what the power of exercise and good living can do for you! Thanks for making what I know was a BIIIG sacrifice last weekend, Gary! I look forward to seeing you back out on the court tomorrow!

Superstar of the Week..
Let’s all give a big hand to Erin Younger…Erin and her husband, Ed, have become regulars on the Team Transplant scene, having joined about 3 or 4 years ago when Ed’s nephew’s wife, Amy Gentry, worked on 4SE as a nurse. Amy and her husband (Ed’s nephew) have since moved to Arizona but Erin and Ed decided they didn’t need them around to enjoy being a part of the team. They have continued to be big supporters of Team Transplant, making regular appearances at practices, running in both the Seattle Half Marathon and the Capital City Half Marathon, and helping out with water stations…which is what Erin did on Saturday morning. The positive attitudes and enthusiasm they bring with them on Saturday mornings truly elevates the energy of our team! We definitely look forward to spending many more miles with them in the future!
