Schedule Update – August 28

Thanks to all who came out for our kick off breakfast last was another great success and we had 2 new transplants (one kidney and one lung) join us! For those of you who missed the clinic, I'm going to (with Jon Baird's help) send out a video of a new exercise or workout each week through Team Snap.  We sent out the first one this week...a video of Terri Sullivan, our PT, showing me how to do the donkey kick.  You will also be able to find them on Team Snap by going to \Media...

Schedule Update – August 5

Practice starts soon…and I’m really excited because I’ve already gotten physician release forms from FIVE new transplant recipients!   For those of you who’ve been on the team for quite a while…you better watch out because this incoming recruiting class is eager…hungry….and from what our scouting reports tell us…talented!   I have a feeling we’re going to be the team to watch this season! Of course…we have a few housekeeping tasks to cover before we get to that point: ·         Paperwork—bot...

Schedule Update – July 8

Another RNR Half Marathon and Team Transplant season in the books! Thanks to everyone who participated and made it so much fun and worthwhile…We had stellar representation on race day and several team members who set significant PRs… With a slight change in the starting area, we met at a new place which worked out perfectly.  It turns out, however, that we were not the only ones who thought about the convenience  and necessity of meeting next to Starbucks.  With a 7am start, they must’ve mad...

Schedule Update – June 17

Crazy to think that in less than 24 hours, we will be out on the race course!  It's amazing how much effort goes into making such a relatively short period of time meaningful and rewarding.  Think about it..the 16-week commitment...the early Saturday mornings...the steps counted...the stretching and strengthening...the working water stations...the finding time to train during the week...the Gatorade and Fig Newtons...the emails..the paperwork...the deadlines...the pre-race jitters...the frie...

Jennifer Herlihy Hat Tricks Gold at Transplant Games in Cleveland!

I thought you'd all like to know how Jennifer Herlihy did at the Transplant Games in Cleveland this past weekend … It turns out…she did an AMAZING job! ·       On Saturday, she won gold in the 5k in 25:42.  She didn’t quite meet her time goal but by all reports it was incredibly humid and they were running into a very strong headwind! ·       Today…she came back and owned the track…winning 2 more gold medals and a silver! o       800m    3:23   (gold)   o       1500m   6:50   (gold) o  ...

I hope you’re all up and ready for tomorrow’s workout…I’ve actually been looking forward to this one.  Leschi has been one of our routes since the very beginning, and it feels kind of like going home.  Since it’s part of the Seattle Half Marathon Course, we’ve always made it one of our core training locations.   I’ve spent a good many hours out at Leschi Park, driving along Lake Washington Blvd, hanging out on Galer Hill, and keeping our water station helper company at the entrance to Interlak...

Schedule Update- May 27

I hope you’ve had a great week…hard to believe we’ve only got 3 practices left for this season!   While the season may be winding down…our mileage is definitely not…at least not just yet….and neither is your energy and spirit… I thought you’d enjoy an update on some of the events your teammates have been involved with this past month… Steve Philips “Today (May 7th)  I was in Wenatchee for Apple Blossom Festival. So I did their 10K run. Made it, but it was hard. I haven’t gotten a formal...

Schedule Update – May 20

I’m looking forward to our visit to Alki this weekend!  It’s always a beautiful spot to train…even when there’s a 50-60% chance of precipitation!:-) Last weekend, Mike and I went to the Pac-12 Track Championships which were hosted by UW.   It was a lot of fun…We ran into a lot of people we hadn’t seen in a long time and got to watch some amazing performances!  Combined the UW men and women pulled off their best Pac-12 showing ever! One of the most impressive races was the women’s 3000m ste...

Schedule Update – May 13

We are back at Seward Park tomorrow and expecting another spectacular Team Transplant morning… if you have not yet liked us on Facebook, you do so now… I’ve been posting pictures every Saturday so be sure to take a look to see if you’re in any of them!  And …if you haven’t been coming to practices…you can see what you’ve been missing! I also want to give shout outs to our volunteers…Really…I can’t emphasize how much they do and how important their role has been in keeping our practices runnin...
